Biography:
Rebecca Rye is a Protection Engineer in the System Protection Engineering group at
Dominion Energy Virginia (DEV). In her current role, she conducts shortcircuit studies
and develops protective relay settings to safeguard substation assets and personnel
against abnormal events.
Before joining DEV fulltime in 2020, Rebecca completed two summer internships with
DEV’s Special Studies team, where she analyzed and verified the performance of
Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) device controllers during system events.
She earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering
from Virginia Tech, in 2017 and 2020 respectively.
