Project Title: GMLC – Southeast Regional Partnership

Project Summary: It is proposed to develop software that determines the optimal path to restoration of the distribution network and scheduling of first responders during routine and major network outages due to severe weather events and terrorist attacks.
UNC Charlotte is to concentrate on developing software which takes real-time data from various sensors on the distribution systems as input and combines those with system data to produce situational awareness of the system.
Clemson University is to concentrate on developing software which optimizes the break-up of the distribution system into various microgrids that result in the least amount of customer disruptions. The optimization will be initiated in case of severe weather events or terrorist attacks when system restoration becomes  a challenge.
